Janette Eastman - Manager, Debt Recovery Department

Born and raised in WA, Janette lived on Sydney’s North Shore for some 17 years before returning to Perth in 1991 and joining local law firm Corser & Corser in a clerical role.

She subsequently moved into the firm’s Debts Department – an area she had built some experience in while working for Sydney’s biggest private hospital – and after two years as an assistant in the department, was made Debts Recovery Manager.

Other duties during her time with the firm included the recovery of accounts on the firm’s behalf, and taking on the role of Personnel Manager for support staff.

In 2007, Janette joined the team at Havilah Legal, tackling the challenge of a new web-based debt recovery system being launched by the firm.

In the two years since Janette has taken the helm of the department, the firm’s Debt Recovery workload has tripled, with clients delighted with both the easy access provided by the online system and the ability to send information or obtain a complete record of their file and financials quickly and easily.

Her considerable experience and level of expertise in the area of debt recovery has seen Janette deliver regular talks on “The Litigation Maze of Debt Recovery” at seminars for The Australian Institute of Credit Managers.

In her more than 15 years in the sector, she has assisted clients by explaining clearly and concisely the court process for debt recovery and applied her expertise on their behalf in recovering debts in a wide range of areas including insurance, manufacturing and building, finance, local government and hospitality.

Outside the office Janette’s chief love is gardening, particularly nurturing Heritage and Old World roses, and preferably while listening to classical or country and western music. She also professes a love of art, but finds it hard to find the time to indulge her creative side.
