Quick checklist so you can launch straight in!

Here's some information on what you may need to get in and complete your Will:

  • Who will be my executor of my will (full name and address) and do they agree? Hint: nominate Havilah legal either as your executor or as a backup executor in case the executor you nominate changes their mind or dies before you!
  • Who will I leave my assets to (my residuary beneficiary) and if it is more than one person then what would be the percentage split between them?
  • Assuming I have children, if the person I leave all my assets to dies before I do (if not my children), what would I want done with my assets and would it benefit my children? (Good opportunity to leave it to children - even if you haven't had any children yet!)
  • Do I have any special heirloom, asset or sum of money which I would leave to a specific person and do I have their full name and address?  (If your residuary beneficiary gets all your assets then obviously there is no need to leave that person a gift!); and most importantly;
  • For an enduring power of attorney, who would I nominate to be my attorney full name and address) and are they prepared to take on the responsibility?
